Assistant Construction Assessment

On Wednesday 31 May, four candidates from the Un Komienso Nobo project took the assessment for the Assistant Construction qualification.
The assessment was the conclusion of an APL pathway. APL stands for Accreditation of Prior Learnings. Here, competences and experiences are measured against the applicable standards (final attainment levels, core tasks and work processes, competent behaviour).
The assessment consisted of a portfolio assessment, a criterion-based interview and an aptitude test. The assessments were done at Landhuis Pannekoek.

Drinks Examinations and Standards Foundation (SDEN)

Yesterday, 4 May 2023, EduDesign Caribbean conducted the first level 2 wine exam for the Drinks Examinations and Standards Foundation (SDEN).                    The examiner on duty was Hayo Vink. A total of eight candidates took the exam. The exam itself consisted of recognizing and identifying four different wines and answering 50 multiple choice questions on wine, the process of winemaking and different types of wine.
The training was provided by Esther Kooijman, and the exam was taken at the LionsDive Hotel.
The results are expected within three weeks.

KITCHEN ASSISTANT EXAM

Last Saturday, a group of three candidates took the SVH exam ‘kitchen assistant’. The candidates were trained and educated by At Your Service Caribbean, EduDesign Caribbean administered the exam.
The exam consisted of preparing a salad with bread, during which the candidates had to demonstrate various kitchen techniques such as cutting, plating, blanching and baking in the oven. Afterwards, the candidates presented their work to the examiners.
The results of the exam are expected in two weeks.

Assistant Gardener Assessment        ‘Un Komienso Nobo’

The assessments for the ‘Un Komienso Nobo’ project have begun. On March 18, it was the assistant gardeners’ turn. At Landhuis Pannekoek, the participants first did a criterion-based interview using the STAR method and then completed an aptitude test. The practical consisted of cleaning a site where cooperation and safety were paramount in addition to technical skills.
Led by an agricultural expert from Hofi Mango, the participants were put to work.
The assessment is the conclusion of an EVC program. The participants prepared their personal portfolio, and this was assessed by two independent assessors. This was followed by a criterion-based interview using the STAR method and an aptitude test.
Un Komienso Nobo is a social training program. The participants completed a course in the Navy, followed by a work-study program that focused on working and learning in the professional context.

Hospitality Industry Assessment                        ‘Un Komienso Nobo’

The assessments for the ‘Un Komienso Nobo’ project have begun. On March 11, it was the turn of the hospitality assistants. In the morning hours the assessment ‘kitchen’ was done, in the afternoon hours the assessment ‘bar and restaurant’ was done. The kitchen practice consisted of preparing a meal consisting of an appetizer and a main course. The bar and service were given tasks such as pouring different drinks, setting a table and serving dishes.
The assessment is the conclusion of an EVC program. The participants prepared their personal portfolio, and this was assessed by two independent assessors. This was followed by a criterion-based interview using the STAR method and an aptitude test. The assessments were taken at Maris Stella SBO, Curacao.
